Lives of many patients in Canada and around the world are dependent on plasma protein therapies. Some of the medical conditions treated using plasma protein therapies include primary and secondary immune deficiencies, autoimmune diseases and inflammatory demyelinating disorders of the nervous system, burn and shock victims, and patients with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. For many of these conditions, there are few if any alternatives to plasma protein therapies.
The only way to understand the full importance of plasma therapies is to listen to the stories of those who depend on them. Here are some links to some of the independent, non-profit patient groups and organizations that are advocates for improving the health and quality of lives of these patients and for optimal patient care and treatment.
